Class IV Wastewater

Course Description:

This course is designed to review topics students need to know to sit for the ABC Municipal Class IV Wastewater Exam. This Review was developed in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality Water Division's Wastewater Licensing.

It is HIGHLY recommended that students obtain copies of the approved reference material a minimum of 30-60 days in advance of examination to prepare for the exam.

There is no intent made by neither the AETA nor DEQ for the slides in this Review to be the ONLY information students study in preparations for the exam.

Learning Outcomes:

• Students will demonstrate an advanced knowledge of administrative duties required of a Class IV Wastewater Operator.
• Students will demonstrate a advanced knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.
• Students will demonstrate a advanced knowledge of wastewater laboratory processes.
• Students will demonstrate a advanced knowledge of wastewater math.   

Must Know:

Students must attend the entire course to receive a Certificate of completion.

Are you planning to take the Class IV Wastewater licensing Exam after this class?

Prerequisite:
1. Hold a Class III license or equivalent for at least three (3) years
2. Satisfactory completion of a total of two hundred (200) hours of approved training
3. Completion of six (6) years of experience in wastewater treatment, provided that at least two (2) years shall have been in direct charge of a wastewater treatment plant or one (1) of its major components
4. Satisfactory completion of a Class IV examination
5. Have satisfactorily carried out the responsibilities of a Class III operator

To be eligible to take a Wastewater Exam, you must submit your application and pay the required fees to the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (DEQ) Wastewater Licensing at least 5 business days before the exam date through the SEEK online portal.
