Asbestos Worker (Initial)

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide individuals with the training required for asbestos workers seeking an Arkansas Asbestos Worker license through the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The course provides participants with an understanding of asbestos-containing materials, the potential health effects associated with asbestos exposure, and the procedures necessary to safely perform asbestos-related work.

Topics include asbestos health effects, respiratory protection and personal protective equipment (PPE), regulated areas, work-site preparation and containment, proper work practices, decontamination procedures, cleanup, waste handling and disposal, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Learning Outcomes:

• Students will identify asbestos-related health hazards and explain the regulatory requirements and safe work practices associated with asbestos abatement activities
• Students will demonstrate proper use of PPE, work-site preparation, decontamination, cleanup, and asbestos waste-handling procedures

Attendance is mandatory for the entire course to receive a Certificate of Completion.
