Class II Wastewater 

Course Description:

This course is designed to prepare Class I Wastewater Operators for the Arkansas Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Class II Wastewater exam.

Topics covered include state and federal rules and regulatory requirements, pretreatment of industrial wastewater, flow measurement, operator safety, lab procedures, and disinfection.

This course meets the training requirements required by the Arkansas Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) outlined in Chapter 3 of 8 CAR 22 (Rule 3) for the licensing of Wastewater Operators in the state of Arkansas.

32 Hours

Learning Outcomes:

• Students will be able to identify state and federal Rules and Regulations pertaining to wastewater treatment facilities.
• Students will develop an awareness of biological wastewater treatment practices.
• Students will evaluate and solve Class II Wastewater level Math problems.   

Must Know:

Students must attend the entire course to receive a Certificate of completion.

Prerequisite:
1. Hold a Class I or equivalent license
2. Satisfactory completion of a total of eighty (80) hours of approved training or equivalent or substitute training as determined or defined by the committee
3. Two years of experience in wastewater treatment or related field
4. Satisfactory completion of a Class II examination
5. Have satisfactorily carried out the responsibilities of a Class I operator
 
To be eligible to take a Wastewater Exam, you must submit your application and pay the required fees to the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (DEQ) Wastewater Licensing at least 5 business days before the exam date through the SEEK online portal.
