Basic Industrial Wastewater Certification

Course Description:

This course is designed to prepare industrial wastewater treatment operators for the Arkansas Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Basic Industrial Wastewater Licensing exam.

Topics covered include basic treatment processes, such as, sedimentation, oil separation, pH adjustment, and aeration.

This course meets the training requirements required by the Arkansas Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) outlined in Chapter 3 in 8 CAR 22 (Rule 3) for the licensing of Wastewater Operators in the state of Arkansas.

Learning Outcomes:

• Students will describe the importance of the wastewater operator in protecting public health and the aquatic environment.
• Students will recognize the importance of state and federal rules and regulations in protecting the environment through the NPDES permiting and pretreatment regulations.
• Students will identify treatment processes, such as, flow measurement, pH adjustment, and solids removal utilized to treat industrial wastewater.
• Students will solve basic industrial wastewater math problems necessary to successfully operate the industrial wastewater treatment plant.   

Must Know:

Students must attend the entire course to receive a Certificate of completion.
