Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Recertification

Course Description:

This course is designed for current Arkansas Backflow Assembly Tester Technicians (ATT) to renew their license per the Arkansas Department of Health requirements.

The course consists of topics to refresh students in hazards of backflow, basic water hydraulics, backflow prevention assemblies, devices and methods, federal and state (Arkansas) backflow rules and regulations, current field test procedures, troubleshooting
backflow prevention assemblies and two hours of hands-on testing.

Learning Outcomes:

Students will demonstrate mastery of field test procedures for properly operating and malfunctioning backflow prevention assemblies (reduced pressure principle assembly, doublecheck valve assembly, pressure vacuum breaker assembly, and spill resistance vacuum breaker assembly in a controlled laboratory setting.

Must Know:

Students must attend the entire course to receive a Certificate of Completion.

After successfully completing the course, Students must make application to the Arkansas Department of Health Protective Health Codes division to Recertify their Arkansas Assembly Tester Technician (ATT) License.


Bring appropriate footwear for the lab. Your feet will get wet in this class! No open toe shoes allowed in the lab.
