Advanced Industrial Wastewater

Course Description:

This course is designed to prepare industrial wastewater treatment operators for the Arkansas Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Advanced Industrial Wastewater Licensing exam.

Topics covered include advanced treatment processes, activated sludge, DAF, and chemical treatment and advanced industrial wastewater math.

This course meets the training requirements required by the Arkansas Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) outlined in Chapter 3 of 8 CAR 22 (Rule 3) for the licensing of Wastewater Operators in the state of Arkansas.

Learning Outcomes:

• Students will develop an awareness of state and federal rules and federal regulations.
• Students will analyze complex waste streams and identify common heavy metals found in industrial wastewater.
• Students will explain the activated sludge process and how it removed organics from the wastewater.
• Students will solve advanced level industrial wastewater math problems necessary to successfully operate the industrial wastewater treatment plant.   

Must Know:

Students must attend the entire course to receive a Certificate of completion.

Prerequisite: Basic Industrial Wastewater Operator License required.

To be eligible to take a Wastewater Exam, you must submit your application and pay the required fees to the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (DEQ) Wastewater Licensing at least 5 business days before the exam date through the SEEK online portal.
